Causes of various secretions in men: what rate, what pathology

There are few women who know that men are divorced as well. Like women, they also occur normally in men and are odorless. Only in women it is called "leukemia" and arises from the vagina, and in men - from the urethra. Of course, any pathological discharge indicates poor health and requires a visit to the doctor.

Physiological secretions

Physiological discharge from the urethra, which is observed in the following cases, testifies to a man's health:

Libid or physiological urethroremia

This condition is observed when there is a clear discharge during sexual arousal or in the morning, immediately after sleep. Their numbers vary from man to man and are directly related to the severity of sexual arousal. In any case, however, it is important to remember that such secretions, when aroused, have a small amount of sperm, so if they enter the partner’s genitals, she risks getting pregnant. The function of the secretions described is to ensure the entry of sperm through a woman's urethra and vagina, where there is an acidic environment that breaks down the "gum", and to enter a viable form into the uterine cavity and tubes.

Defective prostate

As the abdominal pressure (tension) increases, clear odors with possible gray-white streaks may appear on the head of the penis. Such secretions are viscous and consist of a mixture of prostate secretions and seminal vesicles. Such secretions can occur at the end of urination, in which case they speak of a prostatic voice. In exceptional cases, such secretions occur during severe coughing. They are not considered organic pathology, but only indicate a violation of the autonomous regulation of genital function.

Smegma

Smegma (pre-lubrication) is a secret made up of secretions from the sebaceous glands in the head of the penis and foreskin. Generally, if a man follows the rules of personal hygiene, such a discharge does not cause any inconvenience as it is mechanically washed off with water. But if hygiene is ignored, sneezing accumulates and microorganisms multiply in it, which is a source of unpleasant odor.

Semen isolation

Sperm that contain a lot of sperm are usually excreted during ejaculation (ejaculation) at the end of sexual intercourse or spontaneously during sleep (wet dreams). Pollution occurs in adolescent boys and occurs several times a month or 1 to 3 times a week (hormonal changes).

In some cases, spermatoria, that is, leakage of sperm from the urethra without sexual intercourse and orgasm, indicates a pathology in which the tone of the vascular layer is impaired due to impaired vascular inflammation or brain disease.

Pathological secretions

All other secretions beyond physiology are pathology and primarily indicate urethritis or urethritis. The causes of urethritis in men are different, they can be infectious and non-infectious.

Infectious causes are divided into specific and non-specific.

  • Specific etiological factors include sexually transmitted diseases such as trichomoniasis.
  • Nonspecific infectious urethritis is caused by opportunistic bacteria, viruses and fungi:
    • chlamydial urethritis;
    • urea plasma and mycoplasma urethritis;
    • candidal urethritis or urogenital candidiasis in men;
    • herpetic urethritis and others (Escherichia coli, streptococci, staphylococci).

Non-infectious inflammatory factors include:

  • allergic reactions
  • mechanical damage to the urethral mucosa
  • chemical irritation of the urethra
  • trauma, narrowing of the urethra.

Male secretions may vary in transparency and color. These parameters are influenced by the intensity of the inflammatory process, its stage and the etiological factor. The secretions are made up of fluids, mucus and various cells.

  • Cloudy - If there are many cells, the secretions have a cloudy color.
  • Gray or thick - the secretions are dominated by epithelial cells, which become gray and thick.
  • Yellow, green, or yellow-green - When the secretions are high in leukocytes, they turn yellow and even green, they are also called purulent secretions.

It should be noted that with the same pathology, the nature of the excretion changes over time.

White discharge

White discharge occurs in men for several reasons. First of all, candidiasis should be eliminated. The following symptoms are observed with this disease:

  • the head of the penis smells unpleasant of sour bread or yeast;
  • the head of the penis is covered with a whitish coating;
  • noticeable itching, burning and even pain in the penis and perineum;
  • urination produces secretions;
  • there are pink spots on the head and inner surface of the foreskin (irritation, inflammation);
  • pain occurs during sexual intercourse, discomfort in the head and foreskin;
  • noticeable white discharge not only during urination;
  • partner complains of itching and burning, pain during intercourse, has cheese secretions.

In addition to urogenital candidiasis, white discharge can cause chlamydia and / or ureaplasmosis and mycoplasmosis, as well as inflammation of the prostate, characterized by:

  • Difficulty and intermittent urination
  • burning sensation in the perineum and urethra;
  • discomfort during defecation;
  • frequent urge to urinate;
  • sexual disorders (decreased libido and erection, rapid ejaculation, indistinct orgasm).

It is important for men to remember that neglected prostatitis can cause not only permanent erectile dysfunction but also infertility.

Transparent choice

  • Chlamydia, ureaplasmosis - transparent mucosal secretions with chlamydia or ureaplasmic urethritis in the chronic stage of the disease are possible. As the process escalates, the number of leukocytes in the secretion increases, and they turn greenish or yellowish in color.
  • Trichomoniasis, gonorrhea - also transparent, copious secretions with a lot of mucus that is observed during the day are possible in the early stages of Trichomonas or gonococcal infection. In the case of chlamydia (ureaplasmosis), there are often no subjective sensations (pain, itching, burning), and after a long abstinence from urination, transparent secretions appear.

Yellow discharge

The purulent discharge, which includes the epithelium removed from the urethra, a number of leukocytes, and urethral mucus, is yellowish or greenish. Yellow discharge or mixed with greenery is a characteristic feature of sexually transmitted diseases.

  • Gonorrhea - secretions are thick and have an unpleasant putrefactive odor, noticeable during the day and accompanied by pain when urinating. A man should first think about a gonorrhea infection if there is a classic pair of symptoms: discharge and itching.
  • Trichomoniasis - also with yellow discharge, trichomoniasis is not ruled out, although it is often asymptomatic. In severe symptoms of Trichomonas infection, in addition to purulent discharge, the man worries about burning and stinging during urination, frequent and irresistible urge to urinate, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen and discomfort in the perineum.

Odor excretion

Hygiene violation

Unpleasant odor of the perineum and penis can be noticed if the conditions of intimate hygiene are not observed:

  • Smegma is a great medium for microorganisms that multiply and die, creating an unpleasant odor if you do not wash your external genitals thoroughly on a regular basis.
  • In addition, sneezing itself can have an unpleasant odor in the presence of metabolic disorders (such as men with diabetes). At the same time, the release of snuff is so intense that it is absorbed through underwear.

Infections

Odor excretion is most commonly seen with infectious damage to the urethra. In particular, gonorrhea urethritis - thick, yellow or green discharge that is noticeable throughout the day - should be ruled out.

The acid smell of secretions is a pathogenomic symptom of urogenital candidiasis. Infection with fungi of the genus Candida results in secretions of cheese or milky whites.

It is also possible to smell fish secretions, which is characteristic of gardnerellosis, which is more common in women (called bacterial vaginosis), and in men the development of this disease is quite nonsense. Gardnerella belongs to conditionally pathogenic microorganisms and begins to multiply actively only under certain conditions:

  • weakening of immunity;
  • accompanied by inflammatory processes in the urogenital organs;
  • intestinal dysbiosis;
  • use of condoms with spermicides;
  • long-term treatment with antibiotics or immunosuppressants (cytostatics, corticosteroids);
  • tight-fitting underwear of synthetic fabrics;
  • volatile sex life.

In addition, odors with an unpleasant odor may be associated with diseases such as:

  • balanitis (inflammation of the head of the penis)
  • balanopostitis (inflammation of the inner surface of the foreskin).

However, in addition to secretions (not from the urethra, but sneezing), these diseases are accompanied by hyperemia and itching, penile pain, and ulcers and wrinkles on the head.

Release with blood

Infections

Blood secretions or secretions with blood streaks are often seen with infectious damage to the urethra. Blood impurities are common in gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, or candidal urethritis. In addition, blood volume is directly related to the intensity of inflammation.

Blood is often seen in patients with chronic urethritis (the lining of the urethra loosens and responds to the slightest irritation on contact with the bleeding, including the passage of urine through the duct).

Medical manipulations

Another reason for this is urethral injuries during medical procedures. Rough bougienage, catheter insertion and removal, cystoscopy, or smearing may result in blemishes immediately. They differ in that the blood is pink, has no clots, and the bleeding itself stops very quickly.

Passage of stones, sand

Among other things, bloody discharge can be seen when small stones or sand (from the kidneys or bladder) pass through the urethra. The hard surface of microlytes damages the mucous membranes and blood vessel walls, causing bleeding. In this case, the blood is most noticeable when urinating, which is accompanied by pain.

Glomerulonephritis

General haematuria (blood in the urine, visible when urinating) is also possible in the presence of glomerulonephritis. In this case, there is a triad of symptoms: general hematuria, edema, hypertension.

Malignant neoplasms

One of the signs of malignant tumors of the urogenital system (prostate, penis, testicles and other cancers) is the appearance of blood in a man. In this case, the blood will be brown or dark, clots may form.

Blood secretion with semen

We must not forget about a symptom such as the release of blood with semen (hematospermia). Distinguish between false and true hematospermia. In the wrong way, the blood is mixed with the sperm as it passes through the urethra. And real blood gets into ejaculation before it goes through the urethra. Hematatospermia is accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • pain during ejaculation;
  • urinary disorders;
  • pain and / or swelling of the genitals (testicles and scrotum);
  • discomfort and pain in the lower back;
  • increased body temperature.

One of the causes of hematospermia is:

  • overly active sex life or vice versa,
  • long-term sexual abstinence, while during sexual intercourse there is a rupture of the blood vessel walls of the genital tissues
  • previous surgery or biopsy may cause blood to form in the semen
  • hematatospermia occurs in benign and malignant tumors of the urogenital organs
  • in the presence of stones in the testicles and blood vessels
  • with pelvic varicose veins.
